The first stop on your fascinating sailing will be to Kirkwall on the Orkney Isles - a busy town that was once the site of an ancient Norse town over 1,000 years ago. You’ll then sail to Lerwick on the Shetland Isles, where rugged natural beauty and animals are plentiful. The charming Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesey is a captivating visit, before we make stops at Ireland’s Cobh, subtropical St. Mary’s off the coast of Cornwall and bustling St. Peter Port on our way to Portsmouth.

Martin Daniels

Guest Act – Comedian

Comedian, entertainer, magician and presenter Martin Daniels is a spectacular stage and screen performer, captivating audiences with his uproarious sense of humour, charming personality and consummate magical skill. Martin’s TV appearances started as a presenter on the practical joke show Game for a Laugh and still in his early twenties, Martin was catapulted to stardom in a show that received over 17 million viewers every week. His TV career continued with many shows and his unique blend of magic and comedy has proven incredibly popular with audiences across the UK theatres and cruise ships worldwide.

Pauline Daniels

Guest Act

Pauline served her time as a comedienne and has performed in every venue imaginable. Her many television appearances include, The Comedians, Saturday Royal and Wogan. But since 1986 Pauline has been hailed as one of Merseyside’s favourite theatrical daughters and one of the country’s finest actresses. Her first role was at the Liverpool Playhouse in “Chicago” as “Mama Morton” which was swiftly followed by “Rose” in “Gypsy”. Then followed many different roles including musical comedy and straight roles. In 1992 she became Willy Russell’s favourite “Shirley Valentine” and has continued to play “Shirley” all over the country. Many other plays and productions too numerous to mention have taken place since but her toughest role to date was in “Unprotected” at the Everyman which went on to be an award winner at the Edinburgh Festival in 2006 and a Scouse ology in 2007. Pauline co-presented with Roger Phillips for two years on Radio Merseyside and has sung many times with the Philharmonic Orchestra. She also plays a mean baddie in Panto and has been very successful as the Wicked Queen and Baroness Hard-up at the Floral in New Brighton. Pauline is Merseyside’s Queen of Comedy and continues to be one of Britain’s hardest working stand-up comics.

ORCA is one of the UK’s leading whale and dolphin conservation charities, dedicated to the protection of whales, dolphins and porpoises around the world. Ocean Conservationists will be showcasing the incredible diversity of wildlife that can be spotted from the deck, helping everyone learn more about the marine environment around them whilst collecting vital data about whales, dolphins and porpoises to contribute to their protection. Whilst on board, the team will be delivering activities to help guests learn more about these amazing animals as well as the threats they face, including the Ambassador & ORCA pledge and the first ever cruise "Anti-whaling" campaign.

What to expect on this sailing... This entire route provides an abundance of cetacean activity! From monitoring minke whales and fin whales through the Irish sea, and resident populations of bottlenose dolphins around the UK. The North Sea provides an excellent monitoring opportunity in a marine protected area important for harbour porpoises. The Shetland Islands is a perfect area for population monitoring or passing humpback whales, orcas, and Risso’s dolphins.

As this was booked entirely through the website with no interaction with a helpdesk or deviation from the website set format there really wasn't much in the way of 'service' to comment on! However, we have found the service levels on Ambassador in general by far exceed the service levels found on higher cost and more established cruise lines.
