John is a retired professional photographer having been a lawyer in a previous life. He has travelled extensively worldwide and has an enormous portfolio of travel photographs. He has twenty years of cruising experience so knows exactly what is necessary to enjoy a destination port in the limited time available. You will learn a brief history of the port, its culture, its cuisine and then be guided by reference to maps and diagrams as to how to make the best of your day there. By the time you arrive you will feel as if you know the place even though you will have never been there before. Jon will incorporate photography tips into his talks so as to encourage you to go home with a full photographic record of your cruise. If you have ay photography or camera queries, he is happy to assist you.

SPECIAL INTEREST SPEAKER - HISTORIAN / HUMORIST / AUTHOR From the Midwest US and Northwest UK, Rina Tillinger has a series of talks on Anglo-American history with a splash of humour. She is the female Bill Bryson with topics from The GIs in Britain to Hollywood Drama Queen, related to destinations. A teacher and author, Rina likes to educate, entertain and enthuse with her quirky talks on social history which she regularly updates. Rina wrote a weekly humour column called Yankee Doodles about amusing differences between America and Britain in The Chester Chronicle and comic articles from Cheshire Life magazine. A popular speaker around the UK with a variety of interest groups and on cruise lines. Rina is an enthusiastic communicator who loves interacting with the public. If you don’t laugh or learn at one of her lectures, she’ll buy you a drink. Rina has lived in five countries and taught English in the Far East. She found China changing, challenging but charming. She struggled to learn Mandarin but quickly mastered Chinese food. An accomplished paper and fabric craft cutter, Rina makes unique cards, coasters, pictures, earrings and mounts. Her papercuttings have hung in art galleries and in Princess Diana's butler's shop. Happiness is a sharp pair of scissors! Gaining Legal qualifications and Counter Terrorist Clearance certainly added spice to life. Given the chance to do it all again, would I? In a heartbeat.

Professor Glenn Patrick CPhys, FInstP, FRAS, FRGS is a particle physicist who has spent most of his career working on the massive particle accelerators at the CERN Laboratory in Geneva. Until recently, he was studying the subtle differences between matter and anti-matter deep underground at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) – the biggest machine on the planet! He is now an Honorary Scientist at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near to Oxford and is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, the Royal Astronomical Society and the Royal Geographical Society. Glenn is also well known as an engaging science communicator and has won grants for his outreach work. He gives inspirational public talks to schools, science cafes, festivals and cruise lines where he specialises in exploring physics, cosmology, astronomy and the earth sciences in everyday language. As a Visiting Professor at the University of Portsmouth and also a Tutor with the Open University, he has a unique perspective which enables him to bring the beauty of the natural world and the mysteries of the physical universe closer to us.

I have been running art workshops as a self-employed tutor whilst making and selling my own work for the last twenty five years. I have covered many disciplines including silk painting, painting, felting, glass fusing and ceramics. My passion is ceramic sculpture, and I teach people from all over the world via digital workshops and also in person from my home in Lancashire. I mostly work with adults but have taught all ages including children and people with additional needs. I have a degree in Fine art specialising in sculpture.

We come from a musical background and began playing the Ukulele together as a hobby around 11 years ago. Our Ukulele journey began on a cruise to Hawaii and it was there we fell in love with the instrument. Over the past 11 years we have been involved in many play along groups, performed in Ukulele Bands, and hosted play along sessions. With careers in teaching, presenting and managing theatrical events, covering all ages and group sizes, we are now enjoying passing on our knowledge and passion to others.

Malcolm Macfarlane is an author whose published works are books about Bing Crosby, Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney. He was a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a former Rotarian who retired from a senior banking position in the UK . Malcolm has always had an interest in the Great American Songbook and his lectures have grown out of this hobby. He is a noted Bing Crosby authority who has edited BING magazine since 1993. He has been interviewed on radio on many occasions about Crosby, Como and other artists such as Rosemary Clooney and Frankie Vaughan. Malcolm seeks to entertain in his lectures by actively encouraging audience participation and he supports his talks with music and video. He is regularly in demand to deliver his PowerPoint presentations on nostalgic music subjects in the North of England and has spoken for cruise lines such as Cunard, P & O, Saga and Fred Olsen.

I wanted to be a nurse from the age of 3 (Florence Nightingale).I also wanted to be a Nun ( Sound of music). I was the ‘religious nutcase’ of my family from the age of 5 attending my local church on my own, and practicing my preaching skills on family.So after 35 years as a midwife, and having trained as an Anglican Reader, I left the NHS and joined the Prison Service at HMP Liverpool then HMP.YOI Hindley and served 25 years as a Chaplain before retiring. I’ve worked closely with juveniles, men and women and have many stories to tell. I’m joined by my husband Ian, a retired police dog handler, who for 40 years has been my organist in churches and prison.

Jon's principal career was in graphics. Throughout this time his enthusiasm for watercolour painting remained undiminished, joining his local Society of Artists, exhibiting and selling his paintings to a wider audience. He has a special interest in portraiture and when at home teaches a local U3A group on a regular basis. Jon has been teaching on cruise ships since 2016 for a variety of cruise lines and always tries to include subjects which are relevant to the ports of call, catering equally for experienced and novice painters.

ORCA is one of the UK’s leading whale and dolphin conservation charities, dedicated to the protection of whales, dolphins and porpoises around the world. Ocean Conservationists will be showcasing the incredible diversity of wildlife that can be spotted from the deck, helping everyone learn more about the marine environment around them whilst collecting vital data about whales, dolphins and porpoises to contribute to their protection. Whilst on board, the team will be delivering activities to help guests learn more about these amazing animals as well as the threats they face, including the Ambassador & ORCA pledge and the first ever cruise "Anti-whaling" campaign.

What to expect on this sailing... An epic voyage crossing the Atlantic, travelling through the Caribbean during breeding and calving season. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for large whales who have migrated from colder waters where they feed to see if we can spot any calves learning from their mothers and getting ready to make the trip north to the cold Arctic waters on their epic migrations.

Booking was easy and operator was knowledgeable and helpful. Disappointed that the website was showing a 10% discount code that did not work online. When operator asked it was stated that the promo code finished on the 12th even though we did not browse until 15th. We did not get the discount- very disappointing. Also we are repeat customers as we sailed the Norwegian fjords back in February with Ambassador but there is no loyalty program, rewards or discounts.

“A lovely relaxing holiday with lovely people.”

Excellent service from dedicated staff. The ship was really comfortable and warm while the temperature outside was just above zero. Excellent food and service in the Buckingham Restaurant which was followed by the excellent shows in the Palladium Theatre which was followed by excellent entertainment in the Observatory Lounge. The Spa offered all sorts of relaxing treatments to be enjoyed on sea days. I have already booked my next cruise in April.

So far, so good. Booking was really easy and we were attracted by the free drink package offer so the cruise worked out at a good deal. Also, it’s sailing to a few ports that we haven’t visited before despite being seasoned cruisers. Booking was really easy and the agent was very helpful, and when she heard that we had been recommended to try Ambassador by a friend who had cruised with them earlier this year, she pointed us to their ‘refer a friend’ programme. Unfortunately, when he tried to do this it was rejected as he didn’t have a cruise currently booked which wasn’t how it was explained to us. Never mind! We look forward to our first Ambassador cruise in May.
