Andy Hunting

Guest Speaker

Andy has recently retired as a teacher of 33 years, mainly A level and some GCSE. He is an Advanced Skills Teacher (dubbed “Super Teacher” by the press) and was the fourteenth teacher in the UK to gain the award. He was also a regional finalist in the “Teacher of the Year” competition. He is therefore used to talking to large groups (school assemblies of up to 800 people) as well as smaller class-sized groups. Having taught for 15 years at a boarding school which was a 24 hour, 7 days a week commitment, he often used to teach a wide range of extra-curricular topics including juggling, basic sleight-of-hand magic and table tennis coaching - this, of course, was in addition to his subject specialisms of economics and business. In retirement Andy has set himself a target to visit as many countries as possible and to combine this with his love of photography. Andy has won several national photographic competitions within his specialist interests of landscape, travel and street photography. So far he and his camera have visited 28 countries, the highlights being Peru, India, South Africa, Cuba, Iceland and northern Finland. Having been on several cruises as a passenger and seen the workshops on offer, Andy feels confident he could deliver talks and workshops to a high standard, both technically and entertainingly.

Germaine Fisher

Germaine Fisher began her Beaded Inspirations journey in 2005 when she became the founding Editor of the Australian Beads Etc Magazine. Since then, she has authored 12 instructional Beading DVD titles, and appeared on Create and Craft TV, fortnightly for four years, demonstrating beading techniques using new and interesting beads. She has sourced beads and taught beading classes all over the world. She loves to share her wealth of knowledge, especially the great and varied history behind beads and their versatility. What started as a hobby has become a passion. Germaine lives in Cheltenham with her husband and an ever-expanding school of guppies.

Tom Boles

Guest Speaker - Astronomy

Tom Boles is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and former President of The British Astronomical Association. He has been awarded The Merlin and Walter Goodacre Medals for his contribution to astronomy. The International Astronomical Union has named main-belt asteroid, 7648, Tomboles in his honour. He has discovered more supernovae, dying stars, than any other individual in history. Boles's Television broadcasts include: Co-presenting BBC Tomorrow's World and guest appearances on several BBC programmes such as The Sky at Night, Final Frontiers, All Night Star Party (from Jodrell Bank); BBC Astronomers and ITV Vera Productions. Radio Broadcasts include Radio 2, Suffolk Radio, BBC Essex, Radio Northampton, Three Counties Radio, Radio Scotland, World Radio (Netherlands) and BBC Citizen Science.

Call was answered quickly. I was enquiring about a specific cruise for a solo traveller. A quote was forthcoming and I was asked if I wanted to book straight away. I requested a callback to consider the offer and the staff member rang back at the requested time. I then booked it over the phone. The staff member was polite, informative and told me at the end of the call it was only his first week in the role. Well done George!

“Return customer and loved the cruise before.”

The person I spoke to was ok but I felt lacking in ' enthusiasm ' when I was trying to book. I was suggesting solutions rather than him. Not a big issue but slightly frustrating. Also booking confirmation not received as promised. Contacted customer service and was told they have some issues with Hotmail addresses. This is a popular one so seems strange. I don't have confirmation of all booking details yet. Not even sure they will be contacting me if Hotmail addresses an issue.
