2024 Multi-Generational Cruise Information

Fun for all the family!

We’re looking forward to welcoming you onboard one of our multi-generational cruises soon. These cruises are designed to make your cruise experience fun for all the family and we’d like to give you some information that will help you prepare before you join us onboard.

Baby Baths

Unfortunately, we do not have any baby baths available onboard.

Baby Food and Baby Formula

Baby food and baby formula are not supplied however if you have brought your own supply on board, we can arrange storage for you. We do not have bottle heating facilities however our staff will be happy to heat the bottles on your behalf.

Be Safe in the Sun

We advise guests to stay safe in the sun and avoid excessive exposure between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Wearing a hat (that covers your ears), regularly applying sunscreen (especially after swimming and exercise) and wearing a T-shirt while swimming are all ways to protect yourself from the sun.

Cots

Children under 3 should occupy a cot. These are permitted in all cabin grades, providing the number of guests doesn’t exceed the maximum capacity. When a cot is in use, a queen bed configuration cannot be accommodated, except in some of our suites. We do have a limited number of travel cots on board available to hire and should you need to use one, please inform our Guest Services Team in advance of travelling.

Children and Onboard Pool Facilities

Any child using the pools onboard must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times. For public health reasons, children in nappies (including swim nappies) and children who are not toilet trained are not permitted in the public swimming pools and/or whirlpools onboard. The use of inflatables & noodles is prohibited in all swimming pools due to health and safety reasons.

Cruise Cards

Once you have passed security and check-in, you will be handed your personalised Cruise Card before boarding the ship. All onboard expenses will be charged to your Cruise Card.

Daily Programme

You will be able to access the onboard Daily Programme each morning via our onboard app (details of this will be provided once onboard) which outlines the day’s activities. All activities are considered adults only, unless specified as a family activity.

Destination Experiences

If travelling with infants aged 0-2 years and opting to participate in organised Destination Experiences, we recommend bringing your car seat with you to be used on the coaches and to visit the Destination Experiences Team onboard at your earliest opportunity once onboard to inform them.

Dining Arrangements

There are two sittings for dinner and timings will be shown in the Daily Programme, however, you can request early or late sitting by visiting the ‘My Sailing’ section of My Ambassador Sailing no later than 14 days before sailing. The Buckingham Restaurant will have a special children’s menu each day. Please note that priority will be given to those who have booked on an Ambassador Fare basis and those guests who have booked one of our suite cabins. After this, sitting requests will be allocated on a date-booked basis.

Formal Evenings

For the evenings onboard, every day the Daily Programme suggests, as a guide, a mode of dress for that particular evening’s events.

There are generally two ‘formal’ or gala nights planned every 7-12 nights when many gentlemen wear dinner jackets, although a lounge suite is quite acceptable. Ladies on these occasions have a chance to dress up and often opt for evening or cocktail dresses. Please note that jeans, T-shirts and open-neck shirts are not permitted in the main restaurant on Formal or Gala evenings.

Children are encouraged to follow the suggested dress code however if you wish not to participate, please feel free to dine in Borough Market on these evenings.

Gambling and Alcohol Consumption

In line with U.K. age limits, as well as our company policy, the casino and cash prize bingo are strictly reserved for guests aged 18 years or over. Please note that no one under the age of 18 years old is allowed in the Ambassador Casino at any time.

Additionally, only guests aged 18 years and over will be allowed to purchase or consume alcohol and/or cigarettes. Please be aware, if an adult attempts to buy alcohol for a person under the age of 18, both the adult and the minor will be reported. A range of actions may then be taken - including disembarking those involved.

Ambassador Cruise Line does not allow alcohol to be brought on board and we reserve the right to confiscate any alcohol before allowing you to board the vessel.

Highchairs

We have a limited number of highchairs onboard therefore if you require use of one, you are advised to let our Guest Services Team know in advance.

Infants & Children

Infants & children under 18 years must be supervised by a parent/guardian at all times whilst onboard.

Minimum Age to Cruise

Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate infants younger than 6 months due to health and safety reasons. When it comes to cabins, there must be at least one guest 18 years or older in each cabin, to ensure there is suitable supervision.

Nappies, Baby Wipes & Nappy Sacks

Please follow the correct sanitary disposal instructions onboard as if these items are flushed into the toilets, it can cause serious blockages that will affect a large number of cabins. The shop onboard does not stock items such as nappies, wipes, nappy sacks etc so if you need further supply during your cruise, please ensure you take sufficient amounts with you or you’ll need to purchase these items ashore.

Onboard Payments

All prices onboard our ships are quoted in sterling. A cashless system is in operation for all your onboard purchases. An account is opened for you at the start of your cruise for purchasing goods and services on board. All purchases are charged to your shipboard account and a final invoice is presented at the end of the cruise itemising all charges. This can be settled by MasterCard or Visa credit cards, or by Visa debit cards. Guests who prefer to pay by cash may top-up their cruise card by visiting Reception.

You will have the opportunity to register a credit or debit card during the online check-in process, once within 72 hours of sailing via My Ambassador Sailing. By registering your card before you travel, you’ll save time having to complete the registration process at the port during embarkation.

Your card may be pre-authorized for £1. This pre-authorization will appear on your bank statement as a pending transaction until the end of your cruise. During your cruise we will top-up your pre-authorised or pending amount in line with your account activity. You can check your account balance at any time using the ALL ABOARD APP, or at the self-service kiosks located around the ship. Your account will be closed at 0300 hrs on the day of disembarkation, at which point your onboard balance will be settled automatically and any remaining pre-authorised amount will be cancelled within 24 hours. Please note any purchases made after this point must be cash only.

Prams/strollers

All prams/strollers must be stored in your cabin. These aren’t available to hire onboard.

Sleeping Arrangements

Most of our three & four berth cabins contain two single lower beds and one or two upper beds (bunk beds). To comply with UK safety standards, we recommend that children under the age of 9 do not occupy or play on the upper bunk beds.

We do have a small number of additional upper berth plastic safety guards. If you require use of one, you are advised to let our Guest Services Team know in advance.

Theatres and Public Lounges

Children aged under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when in the public lounges or bars and this includes The Pallidum Show Lounge. Access may also be restricted in selected bars and lounges after 9:30pm. Details of which can be found once onboard.

Themed Nights

Both of our multigenerational cruises in 2024 will have two themed nights. One night will have a Pirate theme, where guests are invited to wear pirate fancy dress. We will host a fancy dress competition, plus our younger guests can enjoy some pirate themed craft activities. The second themed night will be a Festival Deck Fest, where guests are encouraged to wear something colourful for the celebration. Please note that both themes are optional, it is not compulsory to join in.

It is a condition of booking that all guests hold fully comprehensive travel insurance that specifically covers cruise holidays, is valid for the entire duration of your chosen itinerary, provides full health coverage for all pre-existing conditions and the costs of medical repatriations, plus specific cover for Covid-19 related issues. Important Information

Guests Travelling with a Child of a Different Surname

On our multigenerational cruises, we have a number of guests travelling with children of a different surname to theirs.

Whilst the UK Government advises that you may take a child abroad for up to 28 days without getting permission if the child lives with you, we cannot verify this during embarkation. Therefore as a matter of security, we request that any guest travelling with a child (under the age of 18 years), obtains written parental consent before travelling with us.

A written letter from the person with parental responsibility for the child will be sufficient, confirming that you have permission to take the child abroad. The letter should include the following:

  • Confirmation that you have permission to take the child abroad.

  • Full details of the child, including name, date of birth, and passport number.

  • Full details of the cruise, including the countries visited, plus sailing and return dates.

  • Full contact details of the person with parental responsibility.

  • A signature and date from the person with parental responsibility, along with a photocopy of their passport.

If you have parental responsibility for the child and will be travelling with them, it may be beneficial to bring either of the following with you:

  • Evidence of your relationship with the child, e.g. a birth or adoption certificate.

  • A divorce or marriage certificate if you are a single parent but your family name is different from the child’s.

You will be required to present this at embarkation however if you prefer, a copy can be emailed in advance to guestservices@ambassadorcruiseline.com. Please note that failure to produce this written evidence will result in the denial of boarding.

Please use this template to assist with this requirement.

Further details can be found here: Get permission to take a child abroad.
