Thursday, 21 May 2026

Sunset over lush tropical forest with a prominent mountain peak in Castries St Lucia

Surrounded by the dramatic Piton peaks and the harbour’s turquoise waters, St Lucia is an island known for its natural beauty and relaxed Caribbean charm. With time to explore, you’ll discover colourful markets, peaceful green spaces and rich local culture, alongside opportunities for adventure and moments of quiet relaxation. Whether you’re exploring the local dishes, taking in scenic coastal views or soaking up the atmosphere, St Lucia offers something for every kind of traveller.

PORTSIDE PLEASURES IN CASTRIES

One of the best things about calling at Castries cruise port is how much you can experience just a short stroll from your ship.

Castries Market

Dating back to the 19th century, Castries Market is a hive of colour and activity. Vendors sell everything from handmade crafts and souvenirs to fresh produce and local spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and cocoa. It’s the perfect place to pick up an authentic memento of your visit or simply soak up the atmosphere of everyday St Lucian life.

Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

Standing proudly in the heart of Castries, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is one of the largest churches in the Caribbean. Its stunning interior, adorned with murals and intricate woodwork, showcases both European and Caribbean influences. Stepping inside offers a quiet moment of reflection amid the lively city streets.

Derek Walcott Square

Named after St Lucia’s Nobel Prize-winning poet, Derek Walcott Square is a leafy park in the heart of Castries. Shaded by 400-year-old samaan trees, it’s a peaceful place to pause during your exploration and reflect on the island’s cultural legacy.

Great 45 day cruise excellent…

Great 45 day cruise excellent crew/entertainers very welcoming. Our first time with Ambassador-Ambition and did 45 Cuba and treasures of the Caribbean cruise leaving UK on 9th January. The whole trip was amazing. All ports of call did not disappoint. Plenty of time spent around Jamaica/Caribbean plus 3 days in Havana so lots of time to explore and 1 day Santiago de Cuba. A real adventure. As always Caribbean sea, sand and sun was amazing. Good stops on the way down Azores and back Maderia/Portugal. Ship whilst small compared to the big ones was charming. Always spotless, waiters, bar and dining staff could not do enough for you. Always happy, polite, friendly and efficient. Entertainers worked so hard. Adam cruise director was brilliant and led an amazing team of singers dancers and the musical entertainers, Kit kat trio, duo maestro and Callum Bradley kept us all dancing, singing and well entertained not an easy task over 45 days. It's clear that the ship has good teams in all departments. Cabins were well serviced and plenty of food choices. Some really special treats for valentine's day, a bbq and tropical evening. Cocktail making events were great fun. Good variety of day time activities. We did meet some rough seas on the way back, bit uncomfortable but added to the adventure. We always have a great cruise as it is our holiday but Ambassador team did well in making it a superb 45 days. "Very nice".
