Foodies at Sea – What Our Guests Loved Most About Dining Onboard

Monday, 27 October 2025

Ambassador Food Photography

Food is one of the biggest talking points on any cruise – and with good reason. From relaxed breakfasts to grand gala evenings, dining isn’t just about eating – it’s about the experience.

For our Fun-Loving Brits at Sea guests, dining became a highlight of their Ambassador holidays. Glenys & Ian couldn’t resist the cakes in Borough Market, Sarah & Shin found a favourite in Lupino’s, James & Damien were dazzled by the Baked Alaska Parade, and Clive & Bernadette treasured the elegance of gala dinners.

Here’s what they had to say about their foodie highlights at sea.

Layered cakes and fruit tarts, from the Borough Market

Glenys & Ian – “The cakes surpassed my wildest dreams”

For Glenys & Ian, food was woven into every part of their cruise experience. They described the dining as “5-star quality wherever and whatever you were eating.” But one sweet treat stood out above everything else.

“Favourite space has got to be in Borough Market drooling over all the AMAZING cakes!”

For them, Borough Market was a daily temptation – a chance to pause, indulge, and share something special together.

“The cakes surpassed my wildest dreams. I’d go back tomorrow just for them.”

But it wasn’t just about dessert. They loved the range of flavours across the ship – from traditional menus to casual treats – all delivered with flair and warmth.

Sarah & Shin – “Dinner at Lupino’s was delicious”

Sarah & Shin’s foodie highlight was their evening at Lupino’s, Ambassador’s speciality dining venue.

“Dinner at Lupino’s was delicious – and it felt like such a lovely tribute to Michelle Lupino.”

For them, the experience went beyond the food itself. The atmosphere, the attention to detail, and the sense of occasion made it a night to remember.

Sarah explained:
“It felt intimate and special – not just another dinner, but something we’ll look back on as one of the highlights of the whole cruise.”

Shin added that it was a reminder of why food matters on holiday:
“Dining isn’t just about filling up – it’s about creating memories.”

James & Damien – “It was like dinner and theatre combined”

As first-time cruisers, James & Damien weren’t sure what to expect from formal night. What they discovered was an evening that blended elegance, entertainment and food in a way they’d never seen before.

“The Baked Alaska Parade – wow. It was like dinner and theatre combined. Everyone clapped, the waiters smiled, and it was just brilliant fun.”

They loved that dining wasn’t just functional – it was celebratory.

“Every meal felt like an event. We’d sit down, chat to other guests, and it was always a pleasure – never rushed, never ordinary.”

Formal night became a memory they’ll always treasure.
“The food was amazing, but it was the atmosphere that made it – it was electric.”

Clive & Bernadette – “The most organised and efficient holiday experience ever”

For Clive & Bernadette, food was at the centre of their first-ever cruise. Married for 50 years and well-travelled by motorhome and plane, they were curious to see what dining at sea would be like.

They were blown away.

“It was the most organised and efficient holiday experience ever. Everything was done with a smile.”

Their standout moments were the gala dinners, where food and formality combined in a way that felt new and exciting.

“The gala dinners were unforgettable – elegant, beautifully presented, and full of atmosphere. It felt like we were celebrating something every night.”

For them, cruising gave meals a sense of occasion that other holidays didn’t.

Why food matters at sea

Across all four couples, one theme kept coming up: food wasn’t just about eating – it was about connection. Whether it was cakes in Borough Market, dinner in Lupino’s, or gala evenings in the main restaurant, dining gave our guests moments to share, laugh, and remember.

  • Glenys & Ian indulged in sweetness and surprise.

  • Sarah & Shin discovered intimacy and tribute.

  • James & Damien enjoyed theatre and fun.

  • Clive & Bernadette celebrated elegance and tradition.

Each found something different, but all agreed on one thing – food made their cruises unforgettable.
