The Northern Lights have to be seen to be believed: nature’s ultimate light show, far outclassing any mere laser display, with vivid green and pink luminosity dancing across the inky sky to delight and enthral you. There’s nowhere better to take in this primeval wonder of nature than from magnificent, unspoilt Norway, and we’ll bring you the very best this northern land has to offer: exploring the endless magnificent coastline dotted with charming villages before we venture far beyond the Arctic Circle in search of the mythical Aurora Borealis.
Known as the ‘home of Nordic flavours’, charming Trondheim will keep your camera happy with its colourful warehouses, waterways and wooden hills. Not to mention Nidarosdomen, Europe’s northernmost gothic cathedral.
Leknes, Lofoten Islands, Norway
Set against lofty mountains and salt white beaches, Leknes lies within the Arctic Circle. Browse the quaint local shops, pay a visit to the magical ice gallery in nearby Svolvaer or simply relax amongst the breathtaking landscapes.
An overnight stay is the only way to experience Alta - a mecca for those seeking the Northern Lights. If the conditions are right, the aurora borealis will give you the lightshow of a lifetime.
Norway’s second-largest city is surrounded by lofty mountains and fronts crystalline blue waters. You can take in medieval Bryggen wharf, the bustling fish market and the KODE art museums, housing the largest collection of art in Scandinavia.
