Dynjandi Waterfall
Isafjordur

by bus & on foot
This half-day experience provides you with the opportunity to visit Dynjandi Waterfall, the ‘Jewel of the Westfjords.’
Located in the beautiful Arnarfjörður and standing approximately 100m (328ft) tall, this magnificent waterfall is the largest and most majestic icon of the Vestfirðir, cascading down the mountainside and spreading out like a stunning bridal veil. The water that feeds Dynjandi originates from Lake Eyjavatn on Glámuheiði, once home to the now-extinct Glamajökull glacier.
Departing from Ísafjörður, the approximately 70-minute drive to the waterfall offers a wonderful introduction to this glacier-carved region in the oldest part of Iceland. Along the way, you will encounter many of the country’s most striking landscapes, from narrow mountain passes and long tunnels — built to improve access to these remote areas — to deep, scenic fjords where farms and villages nestle together on narrow strips of land.
Upon arrival, you will have approximately one hour to explore the scenic surroundings at your own pace. You may wish to walk the natural uphill trail toward the waterfall for a closer look and to capture photographs of the breathtaking views.
