Stuðlagil Canyon is a basalt rock formation located in Jökuldalur Valley in East Iceland. It was discovered in 2009 after a hydroelectric project lowered the water level of the Jökulsá á Dal River, exposing its distinctive walls. The canyon is notable for its basalt cliffs and, during certain times of year, a vivid blue glacial river that flows through it.

Your experience will begin with a scenic coach journey of approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, taking you to the breathtaking Stuðlagil Canyon, renowned for its striking basalt column formations. After departing Seyðisfjörður, the drive takes you through the scenic Fjarðarheiði mountain pass and into the twin valleys of Fljótsdalur and Jökuldalur, offering stunning views of mountains, rivers, forests, and farms.

At Stuðlagil Canyon, you will have approximately one hour to explore its unique basalt formations via walking paths, platforms, and steps, allowing for close-up views and excellent photo opportunities of this incredible feat of nature.

Following free time at the canyon, you will begin the scenic return journey back to Seyðisfjörður
