Ålesund has a beautiful setting across several islands stretching out into the Atlantic Ocean. The city centre is best explored on foot, so this experience is an ideal choice to allow you to immerse yourself amongst the city’s architecture. Many of the buildings were constructed in Art Nouveau style, following a fire in 1904 that devastated the city.

Meet your guide on the pier and join them for a walk into the city for a visit to the Jugendstilsenteret, a museum and a national centre for Art Nouveau. Located in the old Swan Pharmacy building from 1907, your visit to the centre offers insight into this style via authentic interiors and objects, along with the history of the fire through various exhibits.
