This experience combines a scenic train ride with a visit to the world’s strongest maelstrom at Saltstraumen.

Departing from the pier, you will walk to Bodø station where you will board a commuter train for a a scenic train ride along the beautiful Skjerstad fjord between Bodø and Rognan.

Your return journey will be by coach, and you will be able to sit back and enjoy the stunning scenery as you drive over the mountains to Misvær, before continuing to the famous Saltstraumen. With up to 400million tons of water forcing its way through a 150m wide strait every six hours, Saltstraumen is the world’s strongest tidal current, and creates mesmerising whirlpools.

If you wish, you can walk down to the waters edge to get a closer look at the phenomenon, take some photographs, or get a bird’s eye view from the bridge.

Your final stop of the day will be to a local café to reflect on your day over coffee and cake before returning to Bodø and your awaiting ship.
