An Evening at the Aviation Museum
Bodo

by coach & on foot
Explore Bodø by night and enjoy an exclusive opening to the Norwegian Aviation Museum!
Bodø was officially granted township status in 1816, and experienced significant growth during the prosperous herring fisheries of the late 1800s. Its coastal position made it an important fishing and trading centre in northern Norway. The town’s history took a dramatic turn on 27 May 1940, when German forces carried out a massive air raid. In just two and a half hours, most of Bodø was destroyed. The rebuilding that followed shaped the city today.
As you embark on a short sightseeing drive through the city, your guide will impart tales of Bodø’s history.
A highlight of any visit to Bodø is the Norwegian Aviation Museum, and this evening you are invited to enjoy an exclusive after-hours opening. Opened in 1994 as Norway’s national aviation museum, it is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, with over 10,000 square metres of exhibits on both civil and military aviation.
Inside, a specialised museum guide will lead you through the fascinating collection, from legendary aircraft like the Spitfire, Starfighter and U-2 spy plane, to every day workhorses such as the Twin Otter and F28.
