Take in views of the Arctic landscape surrounding Hammerfest on this hike to the summit of Mount Salen.

Meet your guide at the quayside, and take the shuttle bus to the town centre, where you will walk to the starting point for your hike, at Tunnelbakken, in the foothills of Mount Tyven. From here, you will walk along the old trail, once used by locals to reach the mountain. The path will lead you on a steep uphill climb, rewarding you with ever-expanding views as you ascend.

The trail continues through a small forest, before opening up to the viewpoint at Mount Salen, where you will be able to enjoy sweeping panoramas of the town below, the rugged coastline and the surrounding Arctic landscape. You will hike around the summit area, pausing to take photos of the scenery and have a snack in the fresh mountain air.

After exploring the scenic highlands, you’ll descend on foot via the maintenance road towards Hammerfest town centre, where you will once again embark the shuttle bus for the journey back to your awaiting ship.
