Visit a family run farm, steeped in history and tradition, that makes award-winning Norwegian cheeses on this unique gastronomic experience.

The farm, Saghaud Gard, has been in operation since 1303, and today, three generations live together on the farm. The cheese-making takes place in the farm dairy that was built in 2006, and later extended in 2019.

Fresh milk from the farm comes straight into the two 700-litre cheese vats. It takes 10 litres of milk to make 1kg of cheese, and the dairy has the capacity to produce 140kg of cheese every weekday. From the farm shop, you can look into the cheese room, and also into the ripening room to get a glimpse of the process.

All four of Tingvollost's cheeses have won a number of awards, both nationally and internationally. In 2016, Kraftkar blue cheese won the World Champion (the world's best cheese) during the World Cheese Awards in San Sebastian, Spain - as well as the Champion of Champions, the world's best cheese throughout the competition's 29-year history.

During your visit, you will have the opportunity to sample the cheeses for yourself, before re-joining your coach for the return journey of approximately 1 hour back to the ship.
