The Atlantic Ocean Road is one of Norway’s most famous scenic routes, and boasts spectacular views of the open sea.

Don’t forget your camera as you set off on a scenic coach drive along the famous Atlantic Ocean Road. Taking 6 years to construct, the road was opened in 1989 and crosses several islands and skerries with a total of 8 bridges. As your driver navigates the route, you’ll feel like you’re teetering on the edge of a cliff. The road’s rollercoaster feel, winding bridges and ocean views have made it a favourite with many drivers.

The road dips and arches over the Norwegian Sea, and the sight of waves crashing over the road during storms is one to behold. There will be a short stop at one of the four viewpoints along the road to allow you to capture photos of the road, which has been recognized as the Norwegian Construction of the Century.

Continue to Bud, a charming fishing village which was the largest trading post between Bergen and Trondheim in the 16th and 17th centuries. After admiring views of the traditional fisherman’s cabins and boathouses, make the scenic drive back to Kristiansund and your awaiting ship.
