On this experience you’ll discover the varied nature found in Norway’s Vesteralen. From the majestic mountains and fjords and the oceans brimming with wildlife, to the rugged coastline and green farmland, lively towns and villages sheltered in amongst the lushforests – the archipelago’s diversity is unmatched.
After an approximate one hour scenic drive you will arrive at Hovden, the final stop before the ocean. Hovden is a village in the municipality of Bykle in Agder county, situated in the northern part of the Setesdalen Valley. You will stop at the Storhavet Cafe (Grand Ocean Cafe) and enjoy a coffee/tea with cake at this lovely location looking at both the ocean and the barren landscape.
You will continue along the coast to Vinjesjoen and visit the small Bo Museum which is located in beautiful natural surroundings. You will visit Parkvoll, which was formerly the bailiff’s residence. Here you will learn all about the female author Regine Normann, born in Bo, who is well known for writing both fairytales and novels. You will also see the fisherman’s cabin, the boathouse and the outdoor sculpture called ‘The Man from The Sea’, which is 4.3m (14ft) tall, made of cast iron and was designed by Norwegian sculptor and artist Killi Olsen in 1994.
