Sandnes & Surroundings
Sandnes, cruise Boknafjord

by coach & on foot
Your experience begins with an approximately one-hour drive, through the countryside surrounding Sandnes. Following the Dirdal Valley, your destination is Byrkjedalstunet, a former cheese factory that dates back to 1920. Today it has been reconstructed, and now houses a souvenir shop with a large selection of Norwegian handicrafts and authentic souvenirs. You will be invited to enjoy a traditional Norwegian pancake with a cup of tea or coffee at Gloppedalsurahallen, a unique venue built directly into the rock, after which you will have some free time to browse for souvenirs or just enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Your journey continues to nearby Gloppedalsuren to see Norway’s largest field of rock boulders, believed to have been deposited some 10,000 years ago after the thawing of the last Ice Age. Some of these remarkable stones are as large as houses, and a photo stop here showcases the powerful forces of nature that have shaped Norway’s landscape.
Following this, rejoin your coach and travel through the fertile farming area of Jæren and past the beaches of Sola before some city sightseeing in Stavanger.
Finally, you will return to Sandnes and your awaiting ship.
