Embark on a short 25-minute coach transfer from Sandnes to the historic old town of Stavanger. Once you arrive, you'll have plenty of free time to leisurely explore this protected area, which is recognized by UNESCO as one of Norway's cities worth preserving.

Old Stavanger is situated on the western side of the harbour area in the city centre and features 173 wooden structures dating from the late 18th century, most of which are quaint, white cottages. It is a vibrant residential area with numerous galleries and craft boutiques. You may wish to explore the city’s varied history with visits to the Stavanger Maritime Museum, IDDIS The Norwegian Printing Museum, and The Norwegian Canning Museum.

Just a short stroll from Old Stavanger, you will find the Norwegian Petroleum Museum, one of the city’s most popular attractions. It features an interactive exhibit that highlights both the historical and contemporary aspects of petroleum-related activities in Norway.

You could also take the time to visit Stavanger Cathedral, a significant landmark in Old Stavanger. Constructed in 1125, it is the only Norwegian church from the Middle Ages that has kept its original characteristics. In front of the cathedral, you'll find a lively market square, the perfect spot to stop if you fancy a taste of the local cuisine or to buy a souvenir. At the end of your free time, meet your coach at the designated pick-up point for your journey back to Sandnes and your awaiting ship.
