Departing from the port by coach you will discover the scenic beauty of Northern Jutland.

First, you will visit the picturesque seaside town of Sæby, with its well-preserved yellow-washed houses. Sæby is one of the oldest towns in Northern Jutland and dates all the way back to the Viking Age, when the first inhabitants settled here.

In the old part of Sæby lies the former monastery church St. Mary’s. Here you will have around 25 minutes to explore the last remnants of a large fourwinged Carmelite monastery established in the 15th century. St. Mary’s Church is especially famed for its beautiful 16th century frescoes depicting the parents of the Virgin Mary, Joachim & Anne. You will also see the beautiful baptismal font carved in wood as well as the altarpiece from the Netherlands.

Returning to your coach you will continue to one of the best-preserved renaissance castles in Denmark, Voergaard Slot, with spectacular story-telling rooms and magnificent exhibitions. The oldest parts of the castle date back to 1481 and over time, the castle has housed many colourful, historic characters, such as the infamous bishop “Stygge Krumpen”, and previous owner Ingeborg Skeel, whose ghost is said to haunt the castle. Explore the castle and its many rooms, while enjoying the extensive and unique collection of European art and furniture. This includes works by Goya, Rubens, Raphael and El Greco, together with treasures from the personal belongings of Napoleon I, Louis XIV, and Marie-Antoinette.

After approximately 90 minutes in the castle you will rejoin your coach for the return journey to Aalborg.
