Fredericia through the Ages
Fredericia

by coach & on foot
Embark on a journey through time and see the impressive change Fredericia has gone through from 1849 until today. On this experience, you will also meet the city’s old blacksmith, who is behind many of the beautiful decorations in Fredericia.
Departing the port, your first stop is at the Historical Miniature Town that shows Fredericia as a merchant’s town. Everything from houses to the city ramparts have been recreated as accurately as possible in a scale of 1:10. The miniature town's houses have incredible details, and behind them lies a huge construction effort. Here, you will meet your guide, who will share stories of the houses and life in Fredericia from 1849 onward. There are a total of 750 houses in the Historical Miniature Town, which have all been built and are maintained and repaired by senior citizens from various associations in the local area.
Returning to the coach, you will set course for the iconic ramparts of Fredericia and the White-Water Tower for a photo stop. The White-Water Tower dates from 1909 and could accommodate approx. 445,000 litres of water and was actively used as a water tower until 1994.
Following this, you will continue by coach to street of Bjergegade. This historic street stands almost exactly as it was in 1849 and can also be seen in the Historical Miniature Town. Here, you will meet the town’s old blacksmith, Bjarne, who lives in one of the old city houses where he also grew up. Visit his courtyard to hear about his life, see his workshop, and learn about his impressive work that can be seen all around Fredericia.
Reboarding your coach you will return to the port.
