Bornholm Highlights

This experience will introduce you to some of Bornholm’s most scenic landscapes, as you view the island’s impressive cliffs, rugged shores and beautiful villages.

Departing from the port, your journey will take you to the northern tip of the island where you will discover the striking medieval fortress of Hammershus. This is the largest castle ruin in northern Europe, and the most popular attraction on Bornholm. Explore the site with your guide who will explain more about the castle’s history.

Following the visit, your journey will continue down the island’s east coast, through the villages of Sandvig, Allinge and Tejn to your next stop at Gudhjem. Here, you will receive a short introduction from your guide, then enjoy some free time to explore this charming town independently. Head to the picturesque harbour where you can maybe pick up a souvenir of your visit from one of the local shops or enjoy a coffee or an ice cream and relax in front of the sea views.

Your final stop will be a visit to Østerlars Round Church, the largest and most well-known church on Bornholm. Estimated to date from 1150, the church was used both as a place of worship and for protection against enemies from the sea. The roof was added much later when the church had lost its importance as a defensive structure. 

Reboarding your coach, you will return directly to the port.
