South of Bornholm

Departing from the port, your journey takes you towards the south of Bornholm and through the countryside, including the Almindingen Nature Reserve.

Your first stop will be a visit to Nylars Round Church, one of Bornholm’s spectacular and well-known churches. Originally built as a fortification with loopholes for knights shoot their arrows through when defending against the approaching enemies, later, the cone shaped roof was added, and the church became used for more peaceful purposes.

Continue to the southern tip of the island, to Dueodde, where you will find a stunning white sandy beach. Your guide will lead you on a walk through the sand dunes where you will see the modern lighthouse built in 1962.

Following this, your drive will take you up the east coast to Svaneke, Bornholm’s smallest town and arguably its most beautiful. The houses and streets in Svaneke have kept their original character, reminiscent of architectural styles from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Your guide will lead you on a short walk before allowing you some free time to explore at leisure. You may choose to visit the only brewery on the island, which also features a homemade chocolate shop and from where the fragrance of melted sugar often fills the air. Look for locally made caramel to purchase as a souvenir. Art galleries and local crafts add to the atmosphere of this pretty little town.

Your return drive to Rønne will take you through more scenic countryside across the middle of the island.
