Chugging from Cathedral to Coast

During this experience, you will visit one of Germany’s finest red-brick gothic churches, enjoy a ride on the charming narrow-gauge railway ‘Molli’, and visit the seaside resort of Kühlungsborn.

Departing from the port, enjoy a scenic drive through Wismar and the surrounding countryside, as you make your way to the Minster of Bad Doberan. This remarkable church was built in 1368 and is ranked among the best examples of red brick gothic architecture in Germany. It is an excellent symbiosis of gothic style and traditional Hanseatic churches & construction. Enjoy a guided visit of the church and learn more about the history of the Minster.

Rejoining your coach, a short drive will bring you to Bad Doberan station where you will embark the ‘Molli’ train for a ride along the narrow-gauge railway. An approximately 20-minute journey takes you through forests and small villages to Heiligendamm, Germany’s oldest seaside resort dating from 1793.

Here you will embark your coach again for a drive to Kühlungsborn, one of the most famous German coastal resorts. Prominent since the late 19th century, the resort provides a tranquil escape on the Baltic Sea and is brimming with traditional North German buildings. Take a short walk with your guide through the town, before enjoying some free time to purchase some refreshments, buy souvenirs to remember your time here or simply enjoy the sea air and soak in the relaxed atmosphere.

Following this, you will rejoin your coach for the return journey back to Wismar.
