Rural Klaipeda @ Ease

by coach & on foot

This experience is ideally suited to those wishing to see some of the highlights of Klaipeda, predominantly from the comfort of a coach, combined with a stop for a glass of Lithuanian beer.

Departing from the pier, your journey will take you through the city of Klaipeda. Your guide will provide you with interesting information about the city and the importance of the port for the whole of Lithuania.

You will pass through older residential areas, where the buildings date from the Khrushchev period, and your guide will explain daily life during the Soviet Union era and the events that ultimately led to Lithuania’s independence.

Next you will pass through Lindenstrasse, the former high society district, with magnificent villas of wealthy merchants. You will also pass the Museum of Clocks and the former post office in a neo-Gothic style. In addition, you will see the old train station, Libauer Platz, and the Gerlach Haus, built in 1875 and once considered the most beautiful house in the city. Another building of particular note is Navalis, which was built in the 19th century as a residence for merchants.

During the experience, a stop will be made at the historic restored Hotel Victoria, where you will enjoy a Lithuanian beer and a typical Lithuanian snack before rejoining your coach for the return journey to the ship.
