Amsterdam is the city of canals, bridges and diamonds. It boasts a unique charm thanks to the endless canals that criss-cross the city, lined with tall, narrow canal houses that huddle on the banks of these busy waterways. The Amstel River is just one of the many waterways flowing through Amsterdam.

Departing from IJmuiden, an approximately one-hour drive will bring you to the city centre of Amsterdam.

Upon arrival, your guide will lead you on a short walk through the former Jewish Quarter where, in Amsterdam's industrial glory days, numerous diamond traders and cutters produced the world's most beautiful stones. See this process at work with a visit to the Gassan Factory, restored to the splendour it enjoyed when Amsterdam was the largest trading centre for diamonds in Northern Europe. Following this, there will be some free time before you board a canal boat for a cruise along Amsterdam’s canals, enjoying views of many mansions and buildings dating from the Golden Century, when Dutch merchants traded in spices from the Far East.

During your canal cruise, you will have the opportunity to taste a variety of three different types of Dutch Jenever (gin), a true local delicacy. This is a clear, botanically rich spirit that can only be made in the Netherlands or Belgium. First sold as a medicine in the late 16th century, the original written juniper recipe comes from Antwerp, Flanders. Today it is one of the most famous Dutch drinks.
