Gdansk on Foot
Gdynia, for Gdansk

by coach & on foot
The city’s 1,000 years of history have left a rich collection of buildings and monuments, although the Old Town of Gdansk is not as old as it might seem; a huge percentage of the buildings were rebuilt after the devastation of World War II and subsequently it has been completely and lovingly restored to its’ previous glory.
Departing from the port by coach you will make the approximately 1-hour journey to the Old Town of Gdansk. Here you will leave the coach, and you will be taken on a guided walk around the city as you take in the rich collection of buildings and monuments designed in a splendid mix of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles.
Your walk will follow the Royal Route from the Green Gate on the banks of Motlawa, which takes in Long Street and Long Market with its town houses spanning 400 years, the Main Town Hall, Arthur’s Court and the representative symbol of Gdansk – The Neptune Fountain.
Following this, make your way with your guide to visit St. Mary’s Church, known as the ‘Crown of Gdansk’. The largest brick temple in the world took 159 years to build and has 30 decorated chapels, ancient tombs and a 15th century astronomical clock. It can accommodate up to 25,000 worshippers at one time and with its bright, spacious interior and large windows it creates a magical atmosphere.
After your guided tour you will have approximately 1 hour 15 minutes of free time to explore at your own leisure, where you can sit down in a local cafe and watch the world go by or do some shopping before meeting back at the advised location for your return coach journey back to the ship.
