This experience is ideally suited to those wishing to see some of the highlights of Visby and its surroundings, predominantly from the comfort of a coach.

Departing from the pier, a short drive will bring you to Almedalen - a picturesque park next to the Old Town. In medieval times, the area just outside the city walls was the city harbour. Due to post-glacial rebound, the port grew too shallow, and a deeper port had to be constructed further away from the city. In the 1870s, the area was planted with elms, thus giving it its name Almedalen (the Elm Valley). Here you will have the opportunity to disembark your coach for a short photo stop of the surrounding scenery.

Rejoining your coach you will continue to Gallows Hill – this is the only remaining Gallows Hill in Northern Europe, which despite its very dark history (as you will learn from your guide), offers fantastic views of the coastline. You will make another short stop here for photos.

Your journey continues to the Southern Gate, one of the main gates leading to Visby’s Old Town. After passing the gate you can admire one of the many local squares and see the beginning of Adelsgatan, one of the main shopping streets. Enjoy a brief walk-through part of the Old Town and then rejoin your coach for the short drive back to the pier.
