Havana by American Car

American cars were imported into Cuba for about 50 years, beginning in the early 20th century. After the Cuban Revolution, the U.S. embargo was established, and Fidel Castro banned the importation of American cars and mechanical parts. That is why Cuba is essentially a living museum for classic cars.

This experience is designed for those who wish to explore the streets of Havana in one of these classic vehicles without the hassle or uncertainty of arranging a tour themselves.

Your car and driver will meet you at the port. From here, you will travel along the main streets and avenues of Havana’s colonial district. This part of the city, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, offers sights such as the Museum of Revolution, the El Floridita restaurant, the Museum of Fine Arts, Central Park, and the Grand Theatre of Havana.

Your drive will continue past the University of Havana, the Habana Libre Hotel, Coppelia Ice Cream Parlour, and Yara Cinema. Afterward, you will drive down the Malecon esplanade, passing the National Hotel of Cuba along the way.

Toward the end of your tour, you will pause briefly at Revolution Square where you can capture photos of the Che Guevara sculpture, the memorial statue of Jose Marti, the National Library, and the National Theatre.

En route back to the port, your panoramic drive continues through the residential neighbourhoods of Vedado and Miramar, where you can appreciate the various architectural styles found in these districts.
