Santiago de Cuba is the mother of a peculiar musical style known as ’Trova’.

José "Pepe" Sánchez was a Cuban musician, singer and composer. He is known as the father of the trova style and the creator of the Cuban bolero. Pepe had no formal training in music. With remarkable natural talent, he composed numbers in his head but never wrote them down. The Casa de la Trova aims to publicise his work, taking this troubadour and traditional Cuban music to all corners of the world,

This evening experience takes you to the Casa de la Trova – Pepe Sanchez and the Salón de los Grandes, located a few steps from Parque Cespedes. At the Casa de la Trova you will enjoy the performance of a traditional Cuban musical group and you will be able to acquire souvenirs related to Cuban music.

The Casa de la Trova is a meeting place for Cuban music lovers, situated for more than 50 years on Heredia Street where the fun nightlife spills out onto the pavements.

Inside, you will enjoy a local cocktail with live performances from the best Cuban artists and tap your feet or dance to the most popular Latin rhythms. The best-known national musicians play their fabulous music on the patio and in a concert room. This music venue has been visited by countless famous performers from Cuba and beyond, and on whose walls you can see innumerable photographs of famous artists and the signature of Paul McCartney.
