San Gervasio Ruins & Mayan Cacao

This experience explores Cozumel’s most studied archaeological site of San Gervasio and visits the Mayan Cacao Company.

Departing from the pier, enjoy the passing scenery as your journey takes you to your first stop, the ruins of San Gervasio, found deep within the ‘jungle’ of Cozumel. Follow your guide on a walk to explore the site as they explain details of why Mayans made this a place of pilgrimage where they would leave offerings to the gods and goddesses. Learn more about the Mayan culture and the remains that can be seen here. There is a gift shop at the entrance of the site should you wish to purchase a souvenir of your visit.

Rejoining your coach, your journey continues to the Mayan Cacao Company for a visit. Here, you will learn about the cacao bean and how it is made into chocolate, and of course, you will have the opportunity to taste the finished product. You will also visit a Mayan house for an insight into how Mayan people used to live and learn about their customs and traditions. You may wish to browse the gift shop to purchase a souvenir of your visit.

Following your visit, rejoin your coach for the short transfer back to the port.
