UNESCO Bordeaux City Highlights

This experience gives you the opportunity to explore the exciting city of Bordeaux both by coach and on foot.

The city was recently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This distinction recognises the beauty and unity of style of Bordeaux's architectural heritage, which has developed harmoniously over the centuries and remained remarkably well-preserved.

Departing from the port by coach, you will get a chance to view the Chartrons district, a lively quarter that used to be the cradle of wine trade in Bordeaux from the Middle-Ages. Your drive continues to discover the wonderful view of the 18th century river front.

Along the way you will see the ‘Esplanade des Quinconces’, one of Europe’s largest squares with a column commemorating the French Revolution. You will also pass by the Cailhau Gate, the Big Bell, and the Palais Rohan, now the City Hall.

Here, you will leave your coach behind and continue on foot as you pass by the 13th-century Cathedral of St. Andrew, where Alienor d'Aquitaine married Louis VII, as well as the Grand Theatre. Following your approximately 45-minute guided walk, you will have approximately 45-minutes of free time to stroll through the Old Bordeaux area and discover its beautiful squares, shops and local delicacies before returning to your coach for the journey back to the port.
