Bordeaux On Your Own
Le Verdon, for Bordeaux

by coach & on foot
On your approximate two hour journey to Bordeaux, you will drive along the famous ‘Route des Chateaux’ the Medoc wine road, which is located between the Gironde estuary and the Landes Forest. Upon arrival in Bordeaux, enjoy a short city orientation drive before exploring independently for approximately four hours – this is traffic dependant.
Your panoramic drive concludes at Allees de Tourny, which will be the drop-off and re-boarding point for the coaches and is close to the tourist information office.
There are many historic buildings to see, including Place des Quinconces and its Monument aux Girondins, the 18th-century Place de la Bourse, the waterfront, the 15th-century Cailhau Gate, and the Grand Theatre, built by Victor Louis in 1773, which is said to be one of the most beautiful opera houses in Europe and a pure work of art from the 18th century.
Enjoy your free time perhaps discovering more about the history of the city, visiting the museums, or just strolling around, soaking up the atmosphere and doing some shopping. Make sure to visit Rue Sainte-Catherine which was closed to cars in 1977 and is now the longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe, stretching for more than a kilometre. Along the way be sure to sample some exquisite canneles - the little sweet rum cakes that Bordeaux locals have enjoyed for centuries.
The experience will conclude with a transfer drive back to your ship in Le Verdon.
