Board your coach on the pier and begin with a scenic ascent towards Mount Ainos, where the islands dramatic landscapes include forested slopes and sweeping sea views.

Your first destination is the enchanting Drogarati Caves, a geological masterpiece formed over thousands of years. As you descend the many steps into the caves, marvel at the magical stalactites and stalagmites that create an atmosphere that feels almost otherworldly. The grand chamber, known for its extraordinary acoustics, has hosted performances by world-renowned artists, including Maria Callas.

Your journey continues to the enchanting Melissani Lake, one of Greece’s most celebrated natural attractions. Walking through the tunnelled entrance and descending a flight of steps, you will emerge into a breathtaking chamber, where, through the collapsed roof, shafts of light stream from above and illuminate the water in brilliant shades of blue and turquoise. Take a seat on a small rowing boat and glide gently across the lake as your oarsperson rows you into the heart of the cave. Revered in Minoan times and dedicated to the god Pan, this serene experience is sure to feel like a hidden sanctuary combining both legend and nature.

Rejoining your coach, depart Melissani and enjoy the passing scenery as you travel along the coast, perhaps glimpsing the neighbouring island of Ithaca across the strait. Pass through the village of Aghia Efthimia at the base of Cephalonia’s northernmost peninsula, and pause at a viewpoint overlooking Myrtos to enjoy views of the beautiful crescent shaped beach before continuing to Argostoli.
