Taste of Corfu

This half-day experience offers an introduction to the island of Corfu and some of it’s local specialties.

Join your bus at the quayside, and set off on a short drive to your first stop - a local distillery where you will have the opportunity to taste some of the island’s products such as liqueurs and sweets produced using locally grown kumquats, candied nuts, honey, and olive oil. Following this, you will have some time to browse the selection of goods for sale and purchase something to take home with you, or to just enjoy the surrounding views.

Your journey then continues to the small village of Paleokastritsa, set amidst six small coves, nestled in the rugged coastline and surrounded by olive, lemon and cypress groves. Here you will have the option to either relax in the village with some free time or follow your guide on an approximately 15-minute strenuous uphill walk to the Paleokastritsa Monastery.

Rejoin your bus to continue your route with a climb to Lakones, an idyllic mountain village where a stop will be made at the ‘Balcony of the Gods’ to enjoy wonderful views out over the Ionian Sea. Whilst here, you will be invited to enjoy a traditional Greek meze accompanied by a glass of ouzo, or a soft drink. There will also be an opportunity to shop for souvenirs from the small local vendors.

Finally, your journey takes you back south to Corfu Town for a short guided walk, including a stroll through Esplanade Square and a visit to the revered Church of St. Spyridon, home to the relics of the island’s patron saint. After this introduction to the island’s UNESCO-listed capital, you will have around 30-minutes to explore at leisure before rejoining your bus for the short transfer back to the port.
