The Dafnis family welcome you to their estate, where ‘The Governor’ premium extra virgin olive oil is produced. This memorable experience combines history, culture, tradition, science and gastronomy.

Corfu is believed to have more than three-million olive trees, some of which are over 400 years old. An estimated 3% of the world’s olive oil comes from Corfiot olives.

Your experience begins with a journey into the heart of Corfu’s lush countryside to visit The Governor’s Olive Mill. Nestled in a protected area, this centuries-old landscape is dominated by ancient olive groves, overlooked by the castle of Gardiki, and reflects the long-standing connection between Corfiots and the land.

For over 100 years, the Dafnis family have produced olive oil here, and their brand ‘The Governor’ was the first olive oil globally to receive an official health claim. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by an olive oil expert who will accompany you on a tour of the mill to learn about the production process. During this immersive visit, you will discover the art, science and deep tradition of olive cultivation. Learn how Corfu’s unique heritage olive trees have shaped the island’s culture, explore the mill’s heritage exhibits, and discover the secrets behind producing one of the highest phenolic olive oils in the world. Your visit culminates with a guided tasting of the ‘liquid gold’, accompanied with some snacks and a tasting of locally produced wine.

On your return to Corfu Town, join your guide on an approximately 30-minute walk through the UNESCO-listed narrow streets to introduce you to some of the architectural treasures which have been shaped by Venetian, French and British influences, including a visit to the revered Church of St. Spyridon, home to the relics of the island’s patron saint. You will then have approximately one-hour of free time to further explore at leisure. Perhaps enjoy a coffee or sample the local cuisine and watch the world go by at a café, or browse the shops for a souvenir of your visit before rejoining your bus for the short transfer back to the port.
