Corfu Gastro Walk: Flavours of the Old Town

Discover the vibrant tastes and centuries-old traditions of Corfu with a relaxed walking tour through the UNESCO-listed Old Town.

Your experience begins with a short drive from the port in to Corfu Town. You will enter the UNESCO-listed Old Town beneath the historic Bonati Arch, walking with your guide through the network of narrow stone alleyways, lined with Venetian façades and colourful local shops. Along the way, listen to tales about Corfu’s multicultural past and the many influences that have shaped its cuisine.

Your first stop will be a local delicatessen, where you will be invited to sample traditional Corfiot products. Taste noumboulo – the island’s aromatic cured pork, alongside regional cheeses, olives, and other savoury delicacies that reflect the island’s gastronomic identity.

Stroll to another charming neighbourhood, where you will visit a traditional bakery, indulging in a freshly baked savoury pie filled with cheese, spinach, vegetables, or other seasonal ingredients, before pausing to admire the elegant Venetian-era Town Hall, one of the Old Town’s architectural highlights.

Next, enjoy a serving of warm, honey-soaked loukoumades - a beloved Greek dessert. As you continue walking, spot the iconic red dome of St. Spyridon Church, the island’s most important religious site, en route to a local patisserie. Here you will be offered a refreshing scoop of freshly prepared ice cream.

Finally, stop to sample kumquat liqueur, one of Corfu’s most characteristic local products. You will then have around one-hour of free time to spend as you wish – relax under the arcades of Liston Promenade, sip a coffee in a local café, browse the local boutiques, or simply enjoy the lovely Mediterranean atmosphere before rejoining your bus at the pre-arranged meeting point for the return drive back to the port.
