This experience is ideally suited to those wishing to see some of the highlights of Rome and its surroundings predominantly from the comfort of a coach.

Trace Rome's fascinating past on this coach experience that encompasses some of the city's most impressive sights. When you reach the city your first stop will be at the ‘St Pauls Outside the Wall Basilica’ one of Rome’s four major papal basilicas. You will have some time here to take photos.

Re-joining your coach you will then drive past the Baths of Caracalla and the site of the Circus Maximus; once the scene of wildly popular chariot races. Take in the views from the Palatine Hill, where the Roman Emperors had their palaces, and then drive on past the well-preserved Temple of Hercules and the nearby Temple of Portunus.

You will drive past the spectacular Colosseum, a vast amphitheatre thought to have been built between 75 and 80 A.D. Your guide will explain how this enormous arena, once the site of gladiator fights and animal hunts, used to feature 76 numbered entrances, marble seats and subterranean passages.

Rejoining your coach you will pass by Castel Sant'Angelo, a massive fortress built as a mausoleum for the Emperor Hadrian, which was converted into a castle in the 6th century. It is linked by an underground tunnel to the Vatican City.

Before returning to the ship you may glimpse St. Peter's Basilica, this will be dependant on traffic restrictions on the day.
