Your Messina experience starts with a scenic city drive along wide boulevards, passing through Piazza Municipio, the Via Garibaldi, Piazza Cairoli, past Via Cannizzaro (the University and the Law Court) and Corso Cavour. A photo stop will be made at the Cristo Re Church viewpoint.

You will then proceed on a sightseeing drive along the north coast of Messina, where you’ll experience views of the Ganzirri lakes, Messina Strait and Capo Peloro, the nearest point to mainland Italy.

Returning to the centre of Messina, your last stop will be at the Piazza Duomo – the heart of Messina’s historic centre. It’s home to the Cathedral and the astronomical clock tower which is said to be one of the most complex, intricate pieces of clockwork in the world. With your guide, visit the Cathedral interior and the treasure rooms, where you’ll find various artistic and historical works. Among them is the ‘Golden Manta’ which depicts the city’s patroness, Madonna of the Letter. It was commissioned in 1659 by Florentine goldsmith, Innoncenzo Mangani.

Following your Messina experience, you return by coach to the pier.
