Leave the pier by coach and start with your sightseeing of Palermo from your coach.

You begin with a drive though the central part of town; the highlights you will see include the Norman Palace, which began life in the Saracen period, but was altered by the Norman kings, the seaside with its yacht marina, Felice Gate and the Botanical Garden.

Continue on to Porta Nuova before you leave the coach and continue on foot to reach Vittorio Emanuele street and the Cathedral. After your visit you will proceed to the open air food market.

It is an animated, characteristic and folkloristic food market: the colours, the screams (“vuci”) of the vendors, make it an essential element of Palermo city’s character. Open every day, providing locals the chance to buy both groceries and other merchandise.

At the end of your walking tour you will see Piazza Pretoria and Piazza Bellini, overlooked by the Chiesa di Santa Maria dell’Ammiraglio, also known as la Martorana from the name of the nearby convent founded in 1194 by Aloisia Martorana. The original Church was built in 1140, on the orders of George of Antioch.

You will then be given approx. 15min free time before you re-join your coach and drive back to the ship.
