You will depart from Syracuse by coach and drive towards Ragusa, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city renowned for its stunning Sicilian Baroque architecture. Upon arrival, you will disembark the coach and start your guided walk.

Ragusa is divided into two distinct areas: the modern hilltop district of Ragusa Superiore, and the ancient, atmospheric Ragusa Ibla. The city’s dramatic setting is immediately striking, perched approximately 400m (1,312 ft) above sea level.

Following the devastating earthquake of 1693, Ragusa was rebuilt in the late Baroque style, resulting in an extraordinary collection of elegant buildings and monuments. Ragusa Ibla alone is home to more than fifty churches and palaces from this period.

You will see highlights that include St. George's Portal, the 19th-century Giardino Ibleo Garden and 14th-century Church of St. James the Apostle, which was rebuilt in the 18th century. You will join an inside visit to the impressive Cathedral of St. George, with its Baroque façade and bell tower. The cathedral stands on a wide terrace overlooking the central Piazza San Giovanni. Its ‘campanile’ (bell tower) makes the monumental façade strangely asymmetrical.

Following your guided walk you can enjoy some free time before rejoining your coach for the return journey to Syracuse.
