Marsala & Wine Tasting

This experience introduces you to the coastal town of Marsala, located on Sicily’s westernmost point, combined with a taste of the renowned Marsala dessert wine.

Departing from the port, your journey will take you through Trapani and along the ‘Salt Road’, passing windmills and salt pans. A short photo stop will be made to allow you to capture pictures of the salt pans before continuing south to the town of Marsala.

Upon arrival, your guide will lead you on a short walk to explore part of this ancient city, founded by Phoenicians and later developed by the Romans, the Vandals and the Byzantines. During Muslim rule, the town was called Marsa-Allah (Port of Allah). The Normans arrived in 1072 and rebuilt the castle and constructed churches and convents.

The town of Marsala is also famous for a dessert wine that is named after it, so your next stop will be for a visit to a local winery. Following a visit to the wine cellars, you will have the opportunity to taste the Marsala wine, accompanied by some Sicilian snacks.

Rejoining your coach, during the return drive to Trapani, a photo stop will be made at the Torre de Ligny, a tower built in 1671 by Prince di Ligny. Here you have a beautiful view of the Egadi Islands
