Highlights of Porto Santo

Discover the highlights of Porto Santo, Madeira’s golden-sand sister island, on this scenic experience featuring stunning coastal views, charming rural villages, and historical landmarks.

Departing from the tender landing stage, your journey will take you along scenic routes through the island’s serene landscapes, including stops at Calheta, Moinho das Lombas, and the impressive Pico do Castelo, once a pirate refuge. You will have the opportunity to admire Porto Santo’s unique traditional windmills whilst enjoying a cup of tea or coffee.

Your journey then continues to the Portela viewpoint for a westward panoramic view, before you travel to the village of Camacha in the northern part of the island, which is home to a curious attraction, the ‘Cardina Museum’. The museum is the product of the personal passion of José Cardina. Fascinated by the artefacts of Porto Santo’s past, Cardina began not only to collect them, but to make beautiful working 1:5 scale models. The museum itself is an octagon shape, built around a life-size wooden windmill, typical of the kind that were once found all over the island.

Here, you will also enjoy a small tasting of Porto Santo Wine before rejoining your coach for the transfer back to the landing pier.
