Do you enjoy exploring independently? If so, then this experience is an ideal choice, allowing you to maximise your time ashore during the ship’s call with a half-day visit to Oviedo, leaving a further half-day to explore the local town of Gijon (if the ship is in port all day).

Departing from the pier, an approximately 45-minute drive will transfer you to the enchanting city of Oviedo. The compactness of the capital of the Asturias region makes it ideal to explore on foot. You can discover the beautiful cathedral and its holy chamber or, if you’re passionate about history, head to the Fine Arts or Archaeological Museums. If you wish to savour the local gastronomy, a visit to the ‘Cider Boulevard’ (the nickname given to Gascona Street) is a must – it is lined with restaurants and cider taverns to tempt you.

Following approximately 2h30min of free time, you will rejoin your coach for the return transfer to Gijon, where, if the ship is scheduled to depart late afternoon, you can be dropped off at the shuttle stop should you also wish to explore Gijon independently.
