You will meet your guide at the pier and they will lead you on a walk through the narrow alleyways of the old town and the wide avenues of the new town, seeking out Trieste's main attractions. Highlights include the town's main square, Piazza dell 'Unita, on the old harbour; the grandiose Neo-classical contours of the Old Exchange; the great curve of the Roman amphitheatre; and the Canal Grande, a waterway that echoes the shape of its Venetian sibling. You will also see religious buildings that would make even the most church-laden Italian town green with envy. These include Serb-Orthodox chapels, Greek-Orthodox sanctuaries, and a Catholic Cathedral.

After a little free time, you will board your bus for an approximately 15-minute transfer to Muggia, a picturesque town overlooking a beautiful bay at the gateway to Slovenia. Following a short orientation walk from your guide, you will have free time to explore this lively and colourful town independently before rejoining your bus for the return journey back to the ship.
