by coach, boat & on foot

Departing from Alexandria by coach, settle in for an approximately 3h30min drive through the desert to the cultural centre of the Arab world - Cairo.

On arrival, your first stop of the day will be for a visit to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, located in the ancient city of Fustat, now part of modern Cairo. The exhibits in the museum highlight the most important achievements through different eras, starting from prehistoric times, going through pharaonic and Greco-Roman times, Coptic and Islamic era’s and reaching up to modern day Egypt. The crown jewel of the museum is the Royal Mummies Gallery, specially designed to display the mummies of the ancient Kings and Queens of Egypt.

Following this, you will rejoin your coach for a drive to the banks of the River Nile where a luxurious cruise boat, with exclusive access to one of the decks for our guests, awaits to take you on a gentle cruise reminiscent of the journey travelled by the Pharaohs, Queens and Nobles thousands of years ago. Sit back, relax and enjoy a buffet lunch in elaborate surroundings as you glide past Cairo’s waterfront landmarks. For your entertainment, a folkloric presentation and belly dancing will take place during lunch.

Fully refreshed, you will rejoin your coach for the journey to the ancient Pyramids of Giza, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and the last remaining wonder of the ancient world. Their extraordinary shape, impeccable geometry and sheer size, built by teams of tens of thousands strong, make them an awe-inspiring sight. Built as massive tombs around 4,500 years ago the three main pyramids of Giza were built for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Mycerinus.

You will also see the famous Great Sphinx of Giza, one of the world’s greatest sculptures, which is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the head of a human and body of a lion.

Before returning to the ship, you'll stop at a papyrus institute to use the restrooms and have some time for souvenir shopping.
