The Netherlands
Edinburgh is the ideal place to set off for a cruise to the Netherlands, with the likes of Amsterdam only a short trip over the North Sea. The Netherlands is the perfect destination for a mini cruise from Edinburgh and packs a punch for even the shortest trip.
You can wander alongside the famous canals of Amsterdam, rent a bike to enjoy the cobbled streets of the cities and enjoy amazing museums and galleries. Amsterdam is ideal for a culture lover, with the iconic Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum in the city centre. For a history lover, there is no place more iconic than the Anne Frank House, where you can learn more about Anne Frank, her diary and her secret Annex.
How to get to Edinburgh Cruise Terminal
Edinburgh Cruise Port Terminal, 100 Ocean Drive, Leith, Edinburgh, EH6 6JJ
Edinburgh-Leith Cruise Terminal is only three miles from the Scottish capital’s city centre and is perfect for those who want to cruise from Scotland or even northern parts of England.
If you’re looking to travel by rail, then you’ll only have a short 15-minute taxi ride to the terminal once arriving in Edinburgh, which can be accessed easily by many train routes. Alternatively, a bus from Edinburgh to the terminal takes around 20 minutes.
If you’re driving, you’ll find Leith incredibly easy to get to. If you’re coming from the south, then stick to the A1 around the city until Leith. From Glasgow and western areas, from the M8, you can take the A90. And, from northern areas, head over the Queensferry Bridge on the M90.
If you want to come from Edinburgh Airport, you’ll only be a 30-minute taxi ride away from the terminal.
