Anne & Yvonne – Friendship, Fun and West End Shows at Sea

Monday, 20 October 2025

Some friends are made for travelling together. Anne is from Greenock & Yvonne is from Gourock, in Scotland, have been close ever since meeting at work. With very different personalities – Anne is the thoughtful one, while Yvonne is the self-proclaimed “disco diva” – they balance each other perfectly.

Their Ambassador cruise as part of The Cruise: Fun-Loving Brits at Sea gave them the chance to laugh, relax and share new experiences. From worrying about the weather to dancing the night away, here’s their story.

“We thought it might be too upmarket – but it catered for all tastes”

Like many first-time Ambassador guests, Anne & Yvonne wondered what the atmosphere onboard would be like. Would it feel formal? Would it be too smart for them to relax? Their worries soon disappeared.

“It was very luxuriou

s but also down to earth. It was a concern that it might be too upmarket but it catered for all tastes. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional at all times.”

They quickly settled into life at sea, enjoying a ship that felt welcoming and inclusive.

Favourite spot – The Palladium Theatre

When asked about their favourite part of the ship, Anne & Yvonne didn’t hesitate.

“The Palladium. The entertainment was superb. We like a good show, and the Songs of the Divas was a great night out. It felt like the West End.”

For them, evenings in The Palladium were a highlight – a chance to sit back, be entertained, and soak up a performance that rivalled London’s theatre scene.

From rocky seas to smooth sailing

Before setting foot on board, their biggest worry wasn’t the ship or the food – it was the weather.

“Only the weather really, so there would not be any rocky sailing.”

Once on board, those nerves melted away. The ship felt steady, calm, and well cared for. Instead of worrying, they found themselves enjoying walks on deck, soaking up sea views, and chatting with fellow guests.

Dining that delighted every day

Food is an important part of any cruise, and Anne & Yvonne’s experience did not disappoint.

“The dining was superb. We looked forward to every meal.”

From breakfast through to gala dinners, they enjoyed variety, flavour, and the friendly service of the dining staff. Like Glenys & Ian, they discovered that food on an Ambassador ship isn’t just a meal – it’s an event in itself.

Discovering destinations together

Anne & Yvonne had already travelled to Prague together before this cruise, but this was their first time exploring ports side by side on a ship. Their personalities meant they often looked for different things – Anne is happy exploring historical sites, while Yvonne is more likely to find the nearest live music or lively bar – but together, they struck a balance.

They enjoyed the freedom of exploring ashore and returning to the comfort of the ship, knowing they didn’t need to worry about transfers or packing and unpacking. It was all part of what they called the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation.

Entertainment – from divas to dancing

Entertainment became a central part of their cruise experience. Beyond the headline shows in The Palladium, Anne & Yvonne also threw themselves into the ship’s lighter activities. Quizzes, live music, and social events gave them the chance to meet new people while also enjoying time together.

Yvonne especially loved the chance to dance, while Anne found herself laughing along – even if she wasn’t always first on the dance floor. That mix of activities meant they could both find things they loved.

Friendship and fun at sea

One of the most special parts of the cruise for Anne & Yvonne was the time they spent together. Life at home can be busy, but on board they had the chance to slow down, catch up, and share moments that will last long after the trip.

“They were all pleased for us and also a wee bit jealous, especially those that had previously enjoyed cruises themselves.”

For their friends back home, this cruise was seen as a well-deserved treat. For Anne & Yvonne, it was a chance to strengthen a friendship that already means the world to them.

Advice for first-time cruisers

When asked whether they’d recommend Ambassador to someone thinking about their first cruise, their answer was simple: absolutely.

The combination of entertainment, food, and friendliness made it, in their words, “luxurious but down to earth.” They’d encourage anyone considering it to try – especially with a friend who brings out the best in them.
