The picturesque village of Åndalsnes lies on the shores of the Romsdalsfjord, and serves as the terminus for the Rauma Railway which connects the Romsdal region to Eastern Norway and Oslo. Voted Europe’s most scenic train ride by Lonely Planet, it passes through dramatic landscapes including mountains, waterfalls and the spectacular Trollveggen rock face.

Following a short walk to the station, your journey begins aboard the Rauma Railway, travelling alongside the River Rauma, famous for its salmon and a favourite destination for British anglers for over a century. To your left, you'll catch a glimpse of Romsdalshorn, towering at 1,550m (5,085ft), and to your right, the imposing Trolltindane peaks, rising to approximately 1,800m (5,905ft).

Travelling through the fascinating landscapes, enjoy further views of the Rauma River, which originates from Lesjaskog Lake and cascades through the landscape, forming several beautiful waterfalls along the way. Crossing the Kylling Bridge, there will be a dramatic view into the canyon below. Arriving at Bjorli Train Station, located at 574m (1,883 ft) above sea level, you'll switch from the train to a coach for the next part of your experience.

Drive through one of Norway's most beautiful valleys, surrounded by impressive peaks that rise steeply from the valley floor, pausing at a viewpoint to admire the Slettafossen Waterfall along the way. Upon reaching the Troll Wall, you’ll have some time to take in the incredible scenery. This area is a favourite among climbers from all over the world, who come to conquer its challenging climbing routes.

Continue your drive along the valley back to the pier in Åndalsnes and your awaiting ship.
