Winter Nature & Troll Wall @ Ease
Andalsnes, cruise Romsdalsfjord

by coach & on foot
FOR GUESTS BOOKED ON A22609 – IF THE TROLLSTIGEN ROAD HAS REOPENED BY 30APR26, THE PHOTOSTOP AT SLETTAFOSSEN WATERFALL WILL BE REMOVED, AND WILL BE REPLACED WITH AN ASCENT OF THE HAIRPIN BENDS, RETURNING TO ÅNDALSNES VIA THE SAME ROUTE.
This experience is ideally suited to those wishing to see some of the highlights of Åndalsnes and its surroundings, predominantly from the comfort of a coach.
Åndalsnes is a beautifully located village on the Romsdalsfjord, surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks. In April 1940, British troops landed here, and 160 buildings were destroyed during the bombing raids. Today, the village is modern and vibrant, with some significant industry, particularly in furniture and textiles.
After boarding your coach at the pier, begin with a drive alongside the famous River Rauma, a well-known spot for British salmon anglers for over a century. View Mount Romsdalshorn on your left, towering at 1,550m (5,085 feet), and to your right, the imposing Trolltindane peaks, rising to approximately 1,800m (5,905 feet).
Drive towards Verma, where you will make your first stop at the breathtaking Slettafossen waterfall, before continuing to the awe-inspiring Trollveggen (Troll Wall), a vertical, overhanging rock face over 1,000m (3,280ft) high. This challenging area attracts climbers from around the globe who come to tackle some of the most difficult climbing routes in the world.
Crossing the Sogge Bridge, you will enter the Isterdal Valley, surrounded by towering peaks with majestic names, such as The King 1,614m (5,295ft), The Queen 1,568m (5,144ft), and The Bishop 1,450m (4,757ft). Further up the valley, you will reach the stunning Trollstigen (Trolls' Path), a winding road with 11 narrow hairpin bends carved into the mountainside. Pass the Trollstigen Guesthouse and pause at the foothill viewpoint to admire the spectacular mountain scenery, before returning to Åndalsnes along the same route, taking in the breathtaking scenery one more time.
