This experience offers an exclusive visit to explore the world’s largest land-based gun from World War II, the Adolf Cannon.

Departing from the pier, you begin with a short drive through Harstad’s streets heading to the Trondenes Peninsula.

You will arrive at the Trondenes Army Camp, an active military base, and following the necessary security checks, your coach will be escorted to the Adolf Gun.

Most of the original wartime equipment remains intact, and during your visit you will be given a fascinating guided tour through the bunker beneath the gun. Your guide will explain about the gun’s history, its construction, and its intended use, through exhibits including a number of technical instruments from WWII and examples of the huge shell cases.

You will then be taken up to into the turret to see the enormous firing mechanism, before marvelling at the 21m (69ft) long barrel.

After this unique insight into wartime history and military engineering, you will return to your coach and enjoy a scenic drive back to the port.
